Marthe Dubroy District Volunteer of the Year Award

Little League Baseball Canada is honoured to announce Marthe Dubroynée Racine as the recipient of the 2014 Marthe Dubroy District Volunteer of the Year Award. Marthe has been awarded this honour posthumously with her husband Des accepting the award in Valleyfield, Quebec on her behalf.

Marthe was the Canadian Coordinator of Little League Baseball Canada for over 20 years and was well known across the country as she worked tirelessly to provide the best service possible to all the volunteers in our program. Marthe understood the sacrifices that are made every day by our volunteers and she dedicated her life to helping everyone contribute and advance the development of children participating in Little League Baseball, Softball, and Challenger.

The Marthe Dubroy District Volunteer of the Year award is designed to provide local leagues and Districts the opportunity to honour a deserving individual with this prestigious distinction which recognizes the selfless efforts of the thousands of volunteers at the grass-roots level of Little League Baseball in Canada.

Each Little League can send a nomination for this award to their District Administrator for consideration by June 1st of each season.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Little League was first chartered in Canada in 1951 and was the first International Little League charter ever granted. Little League Baseball involves more than three million youth worldwide in over 100 countries. It is the largest amateur volunteer sport organization in the world. Volunteers give their time to provide a healthy and wholesome, family oriented activity for the children of their community. The managers, coaches, league administrators, etc. are all volunteers.
